Exporting your tool list
For: an admin managing tool ownership. Takes about 3 minutes.
What this does
From the Tools page, you can export the list of tools you're looking at as a CSV file. The export follows the tab you're on, any filters you've applied, and anything you've typed into the search box. It's the fastest way to get a clean list out of Stacktic. Use it to hand a set of tools off to someone else, to review ownership in a spreadsheet, or to keep an offline record.
The export always matches what's on screen. For example:
- Switch to the Mine tab, and it exports your tools.
- Add a Category filter, and it exports just that category.
- Search for "aws", and it exports only the matches.
It covers every page of the list, not just the one you're looking at.
Before you start
You'll need permission to manage tools. That's the same permission that lets you edit a tool's details. If you don't see the export option, ask an admin.
Steps
- Go to Tools.
- Narrow the list to what you want, if you want anything narrower than the full tab. You can pick a tab (Mine, Managed, Pending, Watching, Archived, or All), add filters with + Add filter, or type into the search box.
- Click the ⋮ menu next to Add a tool, in the top right.
- Click Export [N] tools to CSV. The number in the button always matches the count of tools currently showing.
The file downloads right away. There's no dialog to click through.
What you'll see
You get a file named something like tools-mine-20260921.csv. The name has the tab you exported from, and the date. It's ready to open in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.
Each row is one tool. A tool with more than one account gets one row per account, like separate AWS accounts under the same vendor. The columns include:
- the tool's name, vendor, category, and status;
- the primary owner and their email;
- the operational contact and their email;
- departments, user count, and verification status;
- a link back to the tool's page in Stacktic;
- a column for each custom field you can filter on (a Pick one, Yes / No, Number or Currency field).
Prices print the way they show on the tool's page, like "$12.50 per month".
If the list you're looking at is empty, the export option doesn't appear at all. One example is the Pending tab with nothing to review.
Security notes
The export doesn't show you anything you couldn't already see on screen. It's the same tools and the same columns, just as a file. Every export is recorded in Stacktic's activity feed. So there's a record of who exported what and when.
Frequently asked questions
Does it export every tool in my organization, or just what I'm looking at? Just what you're looking at. If you want everything, switch to the All tab and clear any filters first. Then export.
Does it include tools on other pages of the list, or just the current page? Everything that matches, across every page. Not only the page you happen to be scrolled to.
Can I export just the tools I own? Yes. Switch to the Mine tab first, then export. That's the fastest way to get a handoff list ready when you're passing tools to someone else.
Can I export every tool a particular person is an admin of? Yes. Switch to the All tab, click + Add filter, choose Admin, and pick the person. Then export. This is handy before someone leaves, so each of those tools can get a new admin first. Choose None instead to find tools with no admin listed at all.
The All tab leaves out Watching tools and archived accounts. To catch those too, apply the same filter on the Watching and Archived tabs.
